What is Malignant Mesothelioma?

Malignant Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that affects the mesothelial cells of the serous membranes in the body, the most common form of mesothelioma, affecting the lining of the lung, is pleural mesothelioma. or

In other words, as per the National Cancer Institute, malignant mesothelioma, is a rare form of cancer disease, in which cancer (malignant) cells are found in the sac lining of the chest (pleura), the abdomen (peritoneum), or the heart (pericardium).

Malignant Mesothelioma Victims:

2 to 3 thousand new cases of malignant mesothelioma are recorded every year. Most of the people diagnosed with mesothelioma have worked on the places where they breathed asbestos. Generally Asbestos may cause a variety of diseases, from non-cancerous forms such as asbestosis, to much more serious diseases such as mesothelioma. People exposed to asbestos in the 1940s to 1970s, are coming with these diseases decades later due to the long latency period associated with all asbestos disease.

How do people get Malignant Mesothelioma?

Most of the times Mesothelioma is caused by asbestos exposure, Asbestos, once regarded as a miracle mineral, was popular due its lightweight but tough characteristics as well as for its heat-resistant properties. Like explained above most of the people diagnosed with mesothelioma have worked on the places where they breathed asbestos.
